Travel information

The conference sessions will take place at Hotel Beatriz**** in Toledo, Spain, situated at 45 minutes from Madrid and its airport ("Barajas"). The hotel, encircled in nature, is situated only 5 minutes by car from the old town of Toledo (Barrio de Buenavista).

How to get to Madrid:

You will most probably arrive by plane to Madrid International Airport ("Barajas"). If you wish inexpensive transportation, we recommended to take the METRO (click here for a 1Mb PDF map) from the airport (Line 8) towards "Nuevos Ministerios" (4 stations). Estimated travel time is 15 minutes. The single ticket costs 1.15 Euros.

At "Nuevos Ministerios" you may change to the RENFE train system.

If you come by train from Europe, you will stop at the Atocha station. Follow the instructions as explained below.

How to get to Toledo:

We recommend that you go by bus, as explained below.

By bus: You must reach the metro station "Mendez Alvaro" on line 6 (circular, directly from "Nuevos Ministerios"). There is the "Estacion Sur de Autobuses" (phone 915-272-961). Coaches towards Toledo leave every 30 minutes (the last is at 22:00 h, select "Zona Centro / Madrid Mendez Alvaro - Toledo, or click here for a schedule in PDF). The single ticket costs 4 Euros. The trip takes between 60 and 90 minutes, depending on traffic. But beware that the last bus on October 11 is at 22:00 hours.

By car: Take the N-401 road. Hotel Beatriz is on that road, 5 minutes before reaching Toledo city.

By train: If you come from the Madrid airport in "Barajas", just go to "Nuevos Ministerios" train station as explained above. Trains to Toledo stop there. You may also go to "Atocha" (at "Atocha-RENFE" metro station on Line 1, if you are in Madrid), or to "Chamartin".

There are not many trains, so DO CHECK the schedule when planning your trip. Today's timetable indicate trains from "Nuevos Ministerios" towards Toledo at 8:35, 10:19, 15:30, 18:00, and 19:28 hours on October 11th 2004. The cost of the single ticket is 4,95 Euros. The trip takes around 90 minutes.

By taxi: We do not reccommend this option because of its cost. If however you have no other choice then please inform the LOC of your expected arrival time and we will try to organize a taxi from Toledo so that you can share it with other participants. The total cost from Barajas to the hotel is about 80 Euros. A taxi taken directly in Barajas may cost much more (but you may check the cost with the driver beforehand).

How to get to Hotel Beatriz, from Toledo:

Hotel Beatriz is outside the city center. We recomend that you take a taxi. Estimated travel time from the walls of the old city of Toledo is 5 minutes. You may also call the hotel (phone number is 925-269-100) for information. No shuttle courtesy service is available by the hotel.
